STEVE G. FAGERMAN, VICE-PRESIDENT
Professional Responsibility:
Mr. Fagerman is a Vice-President of the Medicare Retainer division, with general responsibility for clients located in the Chicago area, several large healthcare systems and selected other clients. His clients include hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, home offices and other healthcare entities. Mr. Fagerman oversees the engagements, provides the technical oversight, and serves as liaison/consultant to home offices of multi-component health care organizations. His clients include large chain organizations such as Resurrection Healthcare in Chicago, IL and Aurora Healthcare in Milwaukee, WI.
In addition, in his role as Vice President, Mr. Fagerman serves as Chairman of SRIs internal Compliance Committee and provides in-house direction in the areas of report writing, engagement organization, and staff planning and training.
Background and Experience:
Mr. Fagerman has been with SRI since 1982. He has functioned as engagement manger for a variety of financial consulting projects including:
- Preparation/Review of Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross Cost Reports
- Wage Index Studies
- Bad Debt Logs Preparation/Review
- PRRB Appeals
- Medicare Audit Support
- Group Appeals
- Budget and contractual allowance projections
- Physician contract review and profitability analysis
Before joining Strategic Reimbursement, Mr. Fagerman served as a Senior Consultant with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in which he provided third party consulting services including financial feasibility projections for an IHFA bond issue. Mr. Fagerman has also worked with a national health care software development firm and was involved in the design, testing, and marketing of their reimbursement and cost accounting projects. He was also a senior Medicare auditor with Blue Cross of Illinois for over four years and has had experience with small client accounting and tax work with a local CPA firm.
Professional Credentials:
Mr. Fagerman earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with Honors and Distinction from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1975. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is currently a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Illinois C.P.A. Society.
